Thrilling Game At Hikurangi
In consideration of the bad weather and greasy ball, the game at Hikurangi between City 'and the homo team was of excellent standard, and full of thrills.
Play was mainly of a hard, tight nature, but in the open movements ' both sides handled with credit. It was mainly a game of opportunities, which Hikurangi turned to best advantage to win 11 —2. The first half was mainly in Hikurangi’s favour, Pickerell going through, for a try converted by C. Hamilton, while for City, Bradley goaled from a penalty. Backs Play Weil. The Hikurangi backs were in excellent form and staged a fine game, Raisbeck getting the ball away swiftly apd the Hamilton brothers backing well. „ In the second half, City had much of the advantage territorially, but Hikurangi, raiding swiftly and breaking fast, staged a number of deadly attacks. Murray went out to mark Pcikerell on the wing, but the Hikurangi. man proved too - shrewd and again penetrated for two more tries, neither of which was converted. W. Lester; on City’s other wing, played la fast, determined game, but his footwork let him down in several cases at the crucial moment when in a good positiop to score. Mr B. Meyer controlled -the game.
