Germany Resents S.A.'s British Preference
(Received 11 a.m.)
CAPETOWN, June 11
The German plenipotentiary, directing attention through newspapers to public bodies, lodged a complaint with the Government against the Capetown municipality for rejecting German tenders for cables and copper wire although they were considerably lower than the accepted British and Dutch tenders. He v states that discrimination against Germany will seriously affect the exchange of goods, and asks the reason for the rejection of the German tenders.
The chairman of the Electricity Committee states that the rejection was in accordance with the wish of the majority of the members of the council who, for obvious reasons, decided to give British and South African manufacturers 10 per cent preference, or even more if it were justified.
