In the course of a speech at Wanstead, Essex. Mr Winston Churchill referred to the transfer to Germany of the Czech gold formerly held in London. Ke said no bank should pay over the asset of a kidnapped customer under cruel duress in order to strengthen a bankrupt aggressor’s armaments. It would injure the banking system and threaten the whole credit of civilisation.
