DAVIS CUP TENNIS Germany Eliminates Britain
(Received noon.) LONDON, June 4. When Germany today beat Great Britain in the doubles of the Davis Cup semi-final, the latter country was eliminated, as the Germans had won both singles on Saturday. The scores were;— R. Menzel beat C. R Hare, G —o, G—l. The Englishman was forced to retire after two sets had been played, owing to an attack ,of lumbago. H. Henkel beat R. A. Shayes, 6 —2, 6—3, 6—l. Henkel and G. Metaxa beat L. ShalYi and F. H. D. Wilde, G—4, G—2, 6—2. In the other semi-final, at Zagreb, Yugoslavia is leading Belgium by two rubbers to one. Results: — F. Puncec beat A. Lacroix. I—6,1 —6, 3_3, 6—3, 7—5; D. Mitic beat P. Geolhand, G—l, G —4, G —l. In the doubles, Lacroix and L. De Borman (Belgium) beat Puncec and Mitic, 6—2, 6—2, 6—3.
