French Army Chief To Visit London
(Received 2.30 p.m.) RUGBY, June 2,
The chief of the French General Staff, General Gamelin, will arrive fn London on Tuesday on a four days’ visit. He will be met at Victoria by three chiefs of staff, the. officer, commanding the London district, and General Le Long, of the French Embassy. On Wednesday . General Gamelin, accompanied by Viscount G'Ort, Generarofficer Commanding the British Forces, will visit the Royal Military College at Sandhurst, and witness a ceremonial parade.
He will later visit the staff college at Minley, and, after dinner at Government House at Aldershot, ‘ will attend the Aldershot Tattoo, where he will take the salute. . , • A
Thursday's engagements include a Government luncheon in London in his honour, and in the evenihg he will bo received by the Duke of Gloucester and later be a guest, at a dinner at the House of Commons. ( It can be stated that, contrary to published reports, General Gamelin’s visit has no connection with the. visit of Turkish military experts.'- The Turkish mission, headed by General Kaiazim Orbay, is coming to London regarding purchases of war material.
