A request is to be forwarded to the Railway Department that electric Hsh’S bo installed at the Okaihau station. The present lighting is of a meal primitive nature, and now that electric power is available, there is no reason why this improvement should bo delayed any longer. Commimi ly Lighting-. The chamber being the only local, body in the district, it was decided that the matter of community lighting should be investigated. The power board is to be asked to supply an estimate of the cost of such a scheme. Assisting The Library. In view of the effort, which is being made to establish a public library in Okaihau, the chamber agreed to hand over its collection of books and also to contribute £G towards the library funds. Athletic Club. A letter was received from the Okaihau Athletic Club .asking the chamber to take over its assets and to assume the duties of the Athletic Club. After some discussion this was agreed to, and advice as to the necessary legal procedure is to be sought.
