Sports Attractions For King's Birthday

The sports tig fraternity in Whangarei will be well entered for on Monday, when the King's Birthday will be celebrated by a public holiday. Principal attraction will be the annual seven-a-side tournament conducted by the Whangarei Rugby Union at Kensington Park. This year about 100 teams will be competing and in all grades bright football should be seen. Hockey players and enthusiasts will also have excellent entertainment, 34 learns at full strength competing in all grades.

Already some 50 entries have been received from local players, and numerous post entries from visitors are anticipated on Monday. Play will be over 36 holes for the Black and White Cup, while trophies will be presented for the best: not score over each 18 holes.
