PEOPLE READ BY THESE BACTERIA LAMPS , invented by Hiroshi Nakamura, of the Tokio Imperial University. Light for these lamps comes from bacteria in cuttle fish, which have properties similar to that of the glow-worm. Carefully cultivated colonies, living in “bulb s,” will shine for three years. Five " lamps " were used to photograph the book above.
