British Council Scholarships

LONDON, Juno 1

Four students from the Dominions, who have been awarded scholarships of £3OO by the British Council, will start a year's post-graduate work in October 'at Oxford, Cambridge and London.

Theye are W. Borrie, Oamaru, New Zealand, who will study the problem of the British population in New Zealand; E. J. B. Foxtroft, of Melbourne, Australia, whose subject is to be tire influence of the Dominions upon British post-war policy; D. Ivor, of London, Ontario, who will Carry out a comparative study of the tax systems of Canada and Britain; and M. Sterne, of Onderstepoori, South Africa, who will follow 'a course of study in bacteriology. A message from Stockholm says Hint Dr. Sandler has withdrawn the proposal to fortify the Aland Islands, pending negotiations with Russia.
