Suppression Of Communism
MONTREAL, May 31
The Act passed in Quebec against Communism, providing for the padlocking of premises used for the dissemination of Communist literature and holding Communist meetings or conducting Communist schools, has been upheld by the Superior Court. The court declared that the purpose of the Act was to prevent, and not to punish. There w.as no violation of free speech, since a suspected Communist was still free to voice opinions.
