I am somewhat mystified by the news which the newspapers print day after d'ay. Scare alternates with soothing syrup, and it is

hard for the ordinary m an to know whether his own
country, and the nations throughout the world, are really going to the dogs, or whether the stage is being set for a great peace movement, which will settle the doubts and difficulties that are doing much to hinder the progress that should be under way today.
If the nations would agree to pool their resources, and divide them up with a reasonable amount of fairness, taking everything into consideration, and then set up an armed police force to keen order among the nations and deal with those who {risd to make mischief, I believe that the day for the beating of swords into ploughshares would h’ave arsived. Is this not something worth striving for?— “CITIZEN.”
