Trotting Driver Injured In Mishap At Epsom
Two collisions, which involved several horses, occurred during the Auckland Trotting Club’s meeting at Epsom on Wednesday. As a result of one of the accidents, E. N. Kcnncrloy was taken to hospital suffering from a fractured collarbone.
A serious mishap occurred during the running of the Suburban Handicap. Shrewdie fell when he was running prominently, and brought down Francisco and Red Frontier. It was some minutes before the tangle of horses and sulkies could bo sorted out. In the second division of the Manukau Handicap. Excel swerved and interfered with Silk Lady, bringing her down. A. J. Julian was temporarily dazed when he fell from Excel':; sulky. .The other driver, C. M. Morrison, was dragged for about 100 yards through catching his foot in the sulky, The mishap, which was the. subject of an inquiry, was found to be accidental. Reserved For Monday. Master Hector is being reserved for the Hack and Hunters’ Steeplechase at Wanganui on Monday. After his good races in open steeplechases recently, he should be hard to beat.
Breeding of Agog
The aged gelding Agog, who has been distinguishing himself over the battens of late, is a son of the imported English horses Cape Horn, whose progeny have won a number of jumping races in Australia for Mr W. R. Kemball and other owners. Mr Kemball owned Capo Horn in New Zealand. The dam of Agog was Vigilance, by Lord Quex (imp.) from Watchful, by Signalman from Parasite. Kai Tere, who has been racing well in Sydney in recent weeks, is a half-brother to Agog.
