Cattle And Pigs At Kamo
Waiter Wakelin reports having held his usual weekly sale of cattle and pigs at Kamo on Wednesday, when fair entries of both classes were submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Forward dairy cows sold well but backward and inferior springers were hard to quit. Store pigs sold well as did a medium entry of porkers. Quotations, —Dairy cows, close to profit, £5 10/- to £7; more backward cows, £2 10/- to £4 10/-; forward, in calf heifers, to £5 5/-; small and backward heifers, £1 6/- to £2 5/-; fat cows, £3 10/- to £6; store cows, to £3 5/-; boner cows, £1 5/- to £2 15/-; Jersey heifer calves to £2; small m.s. calves 6/- to 10/-; boner bulls, £3 to £6 10/-. Pigs: Heavy porkers, £2 10/- to £3; medium porkers. £2 to £2 6/-; light porkers, £llO/- to £1 16/; stores, £1 to £1 8/-; slips, 11/- to £1; weaners, 5/- to 11/-; breeding, two cows, £2 to £3; bo.ars, to £3’ 8/-. Sheep: Aged ewes, 5/-; m.s. Romney lambs (small), 8/11; small black-face lambg, 8/- to 8/7.
