Royal Visit to N.Z. Would Delight People
[Per Press Association. — Copyright] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day.
“Although no overtures have been made, either from here or from Great Britain, for a visit to New Zealand by the King and Queen, there can be no doubt about what would happen if Their Majesties decided to make the trip,” said the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, when recent reports of the possibility of a Royal tour of Australia and New Zealand were referred to him. Savage said the only information he had so far had been obtained from the newspapers. He was sure the people of New Zealand would be delighted if the King and Queen decided to come, and that they would receive an overwhelming reception. No date had been definitely fixed for the visit of the Duke and Duchess of Kent during the Centennial, Mr Savage said, but he believed it would be towards the end of the year.
