Record Entries For King’s Birthday Rugby
With over 100 teams in the various grades, from senior A down to primary school bantams, there are record entries in the Whangarei Rugby Union’s seven-a-side competition, to be played on the Kings Birthday, Monday, June 5. At the meeting of the union last night, the draw for the various grades was finalised, as were the arrangements necessary for the conduct of the competition. In connection with the Northern Wairoa- Whangarei representative match to be played at Whangarei on. Saturday, Messrs. J. Joyce and C. Malloy were appointed managers of the Whangarei team, with J, Callanan as captain and R. White vice-'captain. The team is to assemble at Kensington Park at 2 p.m. At last night’s meeting, R. Blagrove (Kamo) was regraded from senior to junior, and, subject to clearances being obtained, approval was, given to the transfer of M. Wharerau from Kamo seniors to Old Boys’ seniors, and for R. Shortland from Pipiwai senior B to Old Boys’ seniors.
