Quiet Morning on Ellerslie Tracks
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. There was very little work at Ellerslie this morning, the bulk of the horses being restricted to useful pace work. No. 3 grass track was open, and two horses were schooled over some of the big fences on the track. Esteem and King Stroud worked over a round on the grass, but were not doing better than 15 seconds to the furlong. Esteem, who is now trained by J. Winder at Thames, is looking very bright and muscular. After schooling, Power Chief and Bridegroom were given useful work, and were timed to run their last six furlongs in 1.18 3-5. They were going comfortably throughout. The pair were schooled over the steeplechase fences on the flat, negotiating the sod wall, double, and stone wall. Power Chief gave a bold exhibition, and Bridgegroom also impressed for a horse who has had, only limited experience. ; Recent Arrivals. j
Recent arrivals at Ellerslie are:— Esteem, Kakarere, Bells of Bow, King Stroud and Ramleh.
