Firm Values For Westfield Beef Today

At the Westfield sale today, Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report that ox beef sold to a steady demand at values fully firm on last week’s rates. Good heavy cows and heifers were in short supply, and values for this class were firmer, while other cows and heifers scld at late rates. Extra choice ox sold to 32/- per lOOlbs; choice and prime ox, 29/- to 31/; ordinary and plain, 25/- to 28/-; prime young cow and heifer beef, 22/- to 26/-; ordinary cow beef, 16/- to 21/-. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l2 10/- to £l4; heavy prime steers, £ll 5/- to £l2 5/-; lighter prime steers, £lO to £11; light prime steers, £9 to £9 17/0; small and unfinished steers. £5 5/- to £8; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers. £C in £9 20; heavy prime cows and heifers, £7 to £/ 17/6; lighter prime cows and heifers, £6 to £0 17/G; light prime cows and heifers, £5 to £5 15/-; other killablo cows, £3 to £4 5/-.
