League Still Protector Of Danzig

(Received 2 p.m.) LONDON, May 23

A message from Warsaw says the Polish Foreign Office considers liquidated the Kalthof incidents, in which a German crowd set fire to and destroyed a Polish Customhouse, and later a Danzig citizen, Herr Gruebner, was fatally shot. The League of Nations Commissioner in Danzig, Dr. Burckhardt, has been instructed to return to Danzig and report on the situation to the League. This decision will reassert the League protection of Danzig and is in accord with Poland’s wishes.
