Maori Football in Northland
(By K. Aituhi)
With trial matches for the All Blacks, the Maori All Blacks, 'North Auckland, Tokerau Maori team and county representative sides, there is plenty of incentive this season for the Maori footballer to devote himself retraining.
Need for the organisation of a competition among the Maoris themselves is apparent m Northland. The Hone Hoke Cup series appears to be dead, in my opinion the lack of interest being due to lack of knowledge on the part of the organisers.
The trophy is held by Otiria Club, comprising all Maori players, and the champion side in the Bay of Islands last season.
For the sake of the sport. 1 appeal to our pakcha brothers, to Rugby officials. and club representatives, to assist Maori Rugby in Northland, and give it their fullest co-operation."
