Broadwood

Mrs. F. Ensor and family have returned from a holiday in Whangarei. Miss Ida Dodds spent the week-end with her mother. Mr. and Mrs. King, of Paponga. have returned from their vacation spent in j Auckland. Mr. E. K. Plaisted and Mr. Lou Plaisted, of Whangarei, were visitors to Broadwood for the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Mooney have returned from Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. M. Horan, of Brown’s Bay, are visiting relatives here. Mr. Richard Hawkins left Broadwood last Thursday for Hamilton, where his wedding took place. Mr. and Mrs. P. Hawkins, Mr. and Mrs. C. Hawkins and Mrs. J. Dotchin attended the ceremony. Mrs. J. Middleton and family have returned from a holiday visit spent in Auckland and Paihia. Mrs. Peter Urlich, of Taumarunui. is visiting her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Mooney, Broadwood. Mr. and Mrs. Shepherd and Robin have returned from the school holidays. Miss M. McKee has returned from the school vacation. Misses J. and M. Newman, B. Godfrey, J. Enwright and V. Gregor and Masters J. Godfrey, C. Gregory and L. Downey have returned to Whangarei High School. Mrs. J. Fell, of Kohukohu, who has been seriously ill for some months, is convalescing al the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. Fell, Broadwood. The Broadwood basketball team organised a most successful ping pong tournament which was held in the t Oddfellows Hall. There was a large attendance. Mr. J. • McGath, Junr.. won the competition. League of Mothers, The monthly meeting of the Broadwood League of Mothers was held in the Oddfellows Hall and was fairly well attended, Mrs. Fred Carmen occupying the chair. The Rev. P. I Dorian’s address on “The Bringing up of Children” was most instructive and was very much appreciated. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses for (ho day, Mcsdamcs A. Gregory, C. Newman and H.
