Scenes of gaiety prevailed in the Russell Town Hall when naval ratings of the Admiralty survey vessel, H.M.S. Voluntary Assistance. “The men have given a great deal of voluntary assistance at various functions,” said Mr. W. Cowpcr Anderson, chairman of the Russell Town Board, during, the evening, “and -this is our way of saying ‘Thank You.' “Much of the success of the carnival was due to the work of these men of Die sea, who provided dance music on many occasions and talent for concerts. “You will be leaving us within a week or so and we all wish you au revoir and good luck." An appropriate reply was made by a member of the H.M.S. Endeavour’s dance band. A feature of the evening was the special exhibition of poi dancing given by Miss Bella Wilcox, of Russell.
