No Buses, So School Children Must Stay At Home
Seven school children of high school age in the Mata district are obliged to stay home on account of lack of transport. Unless their parents are in a position to board them either in* Whangare.i or Waipu, they will have no chance of a secondary education. Efforts have been made by local settlers to secure suitable transport so that the children might go to the Waipu Junior ..High School, but so far no success has been achieved. Building’ Belayed. It has been expected that, when the buses serving the proposed consolidated school at Waipu.are in .operation, these children will be provided with suitable transport in this way. In the meantime, however, the construction of the* four extra rooms required at the central school for consolidated purposes, has yet to be commenced. * for the building closed on M£rch 22, and the Auckland Education Beard forwarded them to the Department of Education in Wellington, with alfecommendation that the lowest tender be accepted. So far no more has | been done in the matter. I
