Kaingaroa's Exciting News ; Hikurangi Pays For Second Child In my letter to-day I've talked of a week of thrills. But there wasl one huge surprise that wasn't even mentioned. That was because my letter was written before the Princess handed me this week'i; Holiday Fund acknowledgment list. And the big news: Hikurangi Hapu ha? paid for another "complete child!" Well done, Hikurangi! If that in itself had not been sufficiently exciting I needed only to turn to the total-to-date. We have passed the £27 mark. How our fund is mounting! • r ,' .;' It will mount more, too, once schools recommence after the holidays. Already Percy P. has been booked up for several engagements and no doubt he'll be properly in demand as more and more schools> hapiis' r and districts enter the field to raise funds to send their own representatives^with the Kupe Club to the Exhibition. . ■ • Whether it be by district effort or by mothers and fathers guaranteeing the expenses, we want as many young Northlanders as possible to take advantage of this splendid opportunity to spend a week's holiday in Wellington. There')-, not only the Centennial Exhibition to be seen, but also many attractions that only a city the size of Wellington has to offer. Kiwi, of the "Dominion," and her loyal followers will make sure that we don't miss much that is worth seeing. But we'll talk of that in our special Centennial numbers. 'lf.you know a boy or girl who does not read the "Advocate," be sure to pass on the news that these two numbers can be obtained free. Just how, you'll read elsewhere on this page. r|f But to return to the acknowledgments. You'll see that Hikurangi have given a detailed list this week—a list that reflects the energy and moneymaking ability of their individual members. There's no doubt about it, these young pepole have worked with a wjU. So have Kaingaroa. V Their first big donation came this week—a postal note for 10/3 that was obtained as the result of a very special effort by E'Dris Wallace. ;^ "E'Dris is away on her term holidays so I thought I had better send it in. She will write again as soon as she comes home. There will be more to follow but I must not tell tales," wrote Mrs Wallace in an accompanying letter. Sounds exciting, doesn't it, Northlanders? What plans, I wonder, are Kaingaroa hatching. But perhaps you, too, have a surprise in storeMeanwhile best thanks io the following for contributions received this week: CENTENNIAL HOLIDAY FUND £sd £ s d Innah and Dorothy Fergusson .... .... 10 0 Ron and Marcia Stubbing '..'.. 9 11 Evelyn Pearson 4 6 Ei-rice Donaldson .. .. 10 6; Brian Spark 6 3 Max Pearson .. -.
