NORTHLAND TRIBE

‘Advocate” Office, Water St.. Whangarei. Tuesday. May 16, 1939. Dear Northlanders— Talk about thrills! We’ve had exciting weeks in the past, but this week definitely leaves all the others standing. To begin with we started planning the special Tuesday page that will be given free to boys and girls who are not regular readers, and who write in for it. We’ve obtained all manner of interesting pictures and much special information from Wellington. Then came a letter from Kiwi, Sfle has introduced the idea of entertaining young Northlanders' to her- Junior Dominion League, of Wellington, and they seem very keen about it. You remember the other week I became a “movie picture director.” Well, the results havei come to hand and, though there’s heaps of work still to do before the film is completed, the results so far are exceptionally good and will be a treat for young Northlanders in the future. To cap things a photographer and I went searching for the Mounted Rifles who were engaged in manoeuvres at Titoki and, after congratulating - ourselves on being able to locate the troops in a network of roads, got lost on the home trip. Add to that the thrill of receiving all kinds of nice comments on the work Kupe Club members and young Northlanders are doing for the Centennial and you’ll realise that for me the week has been a very full one. Life is certainly worth living when I have the Kupe Club to lead. Cheerio, my followers Vm ! L I

Rangatira, Northland Tribe.
