Otamatea
Otamatea (Sub-zone A 7) submitted seven schemes, six of which were accepted for submission to the national council. They included: — Kai'waka.—Reading, fencing, levelling and planting of trees and shrubs along boundary line of Kaiwaka domain, erection of a commemorative gateway, and provision of a sheltershed for picnic parties; levelling of Hakaru domain, re-erection of boundary fence, provision of football field, and placing of commemorative tablet on existing hall in domain; enlargement of public hall at Mangawai; total estimated cost, £3OO. Maungaturoto.—Erection on a central site, already donated, of a now library, incorporating a ladies’ restroom; estimated cost, £9OO. Mareretu.—Erection on a site owned by the people of a public hall with provision for stage and dressingrooms; estimated cost, £SOO. Paparoa.—lmprovement to Pahi domain, comprising levelling, cleaningup and laying new drains (£100); provision for children’s playground with swings, chutes and roundabouts (£100); erection of memorial arch with tablet (£50): tree-planting (£10); improvements to buildings (£15); construction in reinforced concrete of swimming baths and bathing pavilion (£400); total estimated cost, £655. Ruawai.—Reconstruction of Settlers’ Hall; estimated cost, £6OO. Matakohe.—Reconstruction of public hall, incorporating a commemorative tablet; estimated cost, £4OO.
