Dwelling Destroyed By Fire at Kerikeri

Fire completely destroyed the home of Commander Reeves, at Kerikeri, on Friday. The dwelling was being occupied by the commander and his wife while another home was being erected for them. At mid-day the commander, who had been working on his property, returned to the house and lit the primus, and he then left the house to continue his work. The primus .apparently exploded shortly afterwards and the house was soon a mass of flames. It was impossible to check the blaze, and very little was removed from the building, A considerable amount of valuable furniture, together with curtains which bad been made for the new home, were lost in the fire. Some of the furniture was insured.
