Transjordan Unrest Reports Contradicted
LONDON, May 12. Reports purporting to emanate from Jerusalem have been circulated by certain foreign news services, which allege that there is serious unrest among the population of Transjordan and in the Transjordan army. They speak of the despatch of 5000 British troops from Egypt to Transjordan to quell disorders there, these being attribuated to dissatisfaction with the attitude of the Transjordan Government in relation to Palestine.
It can ponfidently be stated that there is no truth in the reports. The people of Transjordan are living in peace and quiet. Well-informed circles in London characterise the entire story as a crude invention. Dr. Weizmann, president of the Jewish Agency for Palestine, to-day ha’d an interview with Mr Chamberlain and Mr Malcolm MacDonald, the Colonial Secretary.
