French Bluebeard Begs For Execution
(Received 12.30 p.m.) PARIS, May 12. The court rejected the appeal of Eugene Weidemann’s lawyer against the death sentence. Weidemann has been begging for death. He told his gaolers: “I hope the court will decide that the execution must be carried out without a retrial. I cannot go through the ordeal again of hearing witnesses’ tales of ray crimes.” The Court of Appeal also rejected the plea of Roger Million, Weidemann’s accomplice, who asked for a gaol sentence instead of death. On April 2. after three weeks’ trial. Eugene Weidemann, the “French Biuebeard,” was found guilty on six counts of murder, and Roger Millisn, on two counts. Jean Blanc was found guilty of harbouring Million, while two others allegedly implicated. Colette and Tricot, were adjudged not guilty. Weidemann and Million were sentenced to death, and Blanc to 20 months’ imprisonment. -
