“Matter Of Fact” Paul Lukas
He personfies the word charm and, for an actor of world renown, is appallingly “matter-of-fact” in his demeanour. Briefly, that sums up Paul Lukas, the Budapest born actor, who stars in the , new Gainsborough international spy * drama, “The Lady Vanishes.” Paul was educated at a preparatory school and later at the college of Budapest. He made his stage debut in 1916 at the Comedy Theatre, Budapest, in the title role of Ferenc Molnar’s “Liliom.” Remaining at this theatre for nine years, playing many different parts, Lukas entered pictures when Ufa assigned to him the role of Samson in “Samson and Delilah.” He was later “discovered” by an American film scout when he returned to his native land and was transported to the United States. Among his American films are “The Casino Murder Case,” “The Age of Indiscretion,” “The Three Musketeers,” and “Espionage.”
