Gene Autry Again Tops Popularity Poll
Gene Autry, Republic’s singing star of the saddle, has added fresh laurels to his fame by winning the “Motion Picture Herald’s” Western Star Popularity Competition, in England as well as America.
The former poll was taken right throughout the British Isles and 1 exhibitors were asked to record their audiences’ preferences as indicated by the box office —and Autry was No. 1 favourite. The English win, coupled with the fact that Autry also won a similar poll in America, indicates the universal
appeal as well as the tremendous popularity of the star. In Australia, too, Autry is already a great favourite with audiences in all states, and his box office fame increases with every release.
Most recent marriage news from filmdom says that All-American hockey player, Earl Rosemons, has placed the plain gold ring on the finger of Dorothy Moore, Columbia starlet. Rosemons is considered one of the greatest hockey players University of Southern California has produced.
