Major and Mrs Canty returned to Whangarei yesterday after attending the Annual Congress of the Salvation Army in Wellington. s Adjutant A. Chandler, of the. Salvation Army, Auckland, is visiting Whangarei where he will conduct a series of meetings. Adjutant Chandler is a well-known personality 'in broadcasting in connection with children’s sessions.
The Hallam (Sheffield) by-election resulted as follows; Mr R. Jennings (Conservative), 16,033; Mr C. S. Darvill (Labour), 9939.
