Auckland Centennial Officials In Northland
A meeting of a specially-appointed section of the Auckland Provincial Council and representatives of Northland Zone A on the Auckland Provincial Council will be held in Whangarei on Saturday night, for the purpose of dealing with applications for approval of Centennial memorials and celebrations which have been approved by Northland Zone A Committee, and have now been submitted to the Auckland Provincial Council.
After the Auckland Provincial Council deals with the proposals they will then be forwarded to the National Centennial Council for final approval and the granting of Government subsidies. There will be present at the meeting Sir Ernest Davis, Mayor of Auckland; Mr I, J. Goldstine, Mayor of One Tree Hill; Mr H. J. Anderson, Mayor of Mt. Albert; Mr R. J. Mills, Mayor of Mt. Eden; Mr Ely, president of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce; and Mr H. W. Shove, president of the Auckland Manufacturers’ Association (all are representatives of the Auckland Provincial Council); and Messrs W. Jones, Mayor of Whangarei; J. A. S. Mac Kay, chairman of the Whangarei County Council; H. T. Atkinson, chairman of the Bay of Islands County Council; and R. Gibson, Mayor of Dargaville (representatives of Northland Zone A).
Man Injured When Horse Bolts
When the horse harnessed to the sledge which he was driving bolted, Alfred Liddiard, Titoki, was dragged, and, as a result, received injuries which necessitated his removal to the Whangarei District Hospital this morning. Examination showed him to be suffering from a punctured wound to the right leg, as well as extensive abrasions to one side.
He was stated this afternoon to bo progressing favourably.
