Centennial Funds Mount In Otamatea

ISpecial to “Northern Advocate ”l PAPAROA, This Day. Several hundred pounds have already been raised by means of the Queen Carnival being run in Otamatea under the aegis of the Otamatea Centennial Committee. The various committees are sparing no pains in the concoction of schemes to lure the humble shilling and halfcrown from the pockets of the residents of Otamatea. Every night somewhere in the county a function is being staged for one of the queens and the general public has not for many years had the variety of entertainment that is now available.

Enthusiasm is still running high and there is every prospect that the amount £3400 required for Centennial purposes, will be raised by the end of September. The Queen, Carnival will conclude on June 30, but the collection of Centennial funds will not cease until September 30 when it is hoped that the full amount required will be in hand.
