The Adelaide Cup, run at the second day, today, of the South Australia Jockey Club’s autumn meeting, was won by Son of Aurus from the St. Leger colt, Tempest, and Rotex. Details.— Adelaide Cup, of 1500 sovs., and gold cup valued at £100; one mile and five furlongs.—Son of Aurus, 7.9, 1; Tempest, 8.7, 2; Rotex, 7.12, 3. Two lengths; a length. Time, 2.46. Gemmell has returned ifrom a fortnight’s visit to friends and relatives as far south as Taumarunui. Mrs Curtis has returned from a holiday spent in Auckland. Card Evenings. . A card party in aid of the tennis club funds was held at the home of Mr and Mrs F. C. Frogley last week. The winners were Mr Gemmell and Mrs Shipman. A delightful supper was served. i There was the usual attendance at the 500 evening held in the school on Tuesday. The winners were Mrs H. Stewart and Mrs Boys, who played as a man. Mr Larcombe won the aggregate prize. Supper was served.
