Northern Countries Stand Aloof From Pacts
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, May 9. Foreign Ministers of Sweden. Norway, Finland and Denmark, who met to discuss Herr Hitler’s offer of non-aggression pacts, decided to reject the offer.
The Foreign Ministers issued a statement that it was decided to maintain last year’s declaration to remain outside all groups of European Powers, and do their utmost to avoid being involved in the event pf war.
They will jointly welcome an expression from other countries in respect to northern countries’ integrity and independence, and they add that the results of the conference will be submitted to their respective countries.
German Demands On Lithuania
(Received 2.30 p.m.) KAUNAS, May 9.' : j The Lithuanian delegation has Returned from Berlin. ; ■ ■ Germany is reported to have demanded that 45 per cent, of Lithuanian exports be directed to Germany in return for corresponding imports. Also that Lithuania’s entire sea trade should go through Memel. Lithuania should not build her own port. . It is suggested that Lithuania should not build now industries in her own territory, but use those in Meinel, which has been handed oyer to .Germany. ,
