Broadwood Possesses Public Benefactors
[Special to "Northern Advocate "l t ROADWOOD, This Day.
The Eroadwood A. and P. Society has not held a show for some years, and the grounds and buildings are held under Crown lease.
Therefore, to enable the grounds to bo retained for the benefit of the district, a group of men, representing the A. and P. Society committee, remains in existence on its own accord to retain the grounds. If the committee ceased to function the ground and buildings would return to the Crown and these men subscribe to a society from which they receive nothing but heavy responsibilities. In .the past, .the grounds have been, used for the staging of cricket, athletic and football matches, and the hall has been used for pictures and dances.
The only revenue received by the committee is from the hall, which seldom meets the expenditure necessary to keep the entire grounds and hall in good order.
A public meeting was recently held in Eroadwood to go into the matter of improving the hall, but no concrete proposals have yet been decided upon.
