Quiet Morning On Ellerslie Tracks
Late Sporting
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
There was not much activity at Eilerslie this morning, as most of the horses had raced at the Franklin meeting. The No. 2 track was open, the going being perfect, and some useful trials were recorded. Several horses werej schooled. Fleetwind and Aero King reeled off five furlongs in I*2 1-5. They ran the first two in 25 seconds, and there was little between them at the finish. Trevace, after taking 37 3-5 seconds for his first three furlongs, completed six in 1.17. Silver Quex ran her first two furlongs in 24 4-5 seconds, and was going freely at the end of five in 1.2 2-5. Melvanui ran the last half-mile of a round in 55 1-5 seconds. Agog completed the last four furlongs of his work in 53 seconds. Adsum, Jonathan and All Irish were timed to run the first six furlongs of their work in 1.16 4-5. They ran the first three in 37 2-5 seconds, and Jonathan and All Irish were clear of Adsum at the end. Tupeotu took 26 seconds for his first two furlongs, and continued on to record 1.4 1-5 for five. ■ Master Vaals, after taking 38 2-5 seconds for his first three furlongs, traversed six furlongs in 1.19 1-5. After schooling, Right Royal cantered round to the three-furlong post, and came home in 37 3-5 seconds. Agog was sent over four hurdles in the centre, and gave a good exhibition. Bisquit cleared a couple of pony hurdles in good style. He afterwards jumped four of the bigger ones, and his display was very encouraging for a beginner.
Tea Chat, Right Royal and Golden Spahi were associated over the steeplechase fences on the flat. Right Royal, who had a lot of qace on, ran off at the second fence of the double, but afterwards cleared it, and also the stone wall. The trio was sent over the same obstacles again, and Right Royal, who was kept in behind the other pair, gave a very satisfactory exhibition. Golden Spahi also fenced well, while Tea Chat made no mistakes. Early Engagements for Te Rapa. The following riding engagements are announced for Te Rapa:— F. Baker: Lady England. D. Black Marlin. F. Foster: Agog, Gascyne, Roxy.
A censorship has been imposed on all telegraph messages sent from and received at Gibraltar. An ordinance empowers the Governor to demand the production of any telegraph message, and those who refuse to comply are liable to three months’ imprisonment and a fine of £SO.
