Kaitaia Street Repairs And Rubbish Collection
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”l ' KAITAIA, This Day. The laying of water mains across the main street of Kaitaia has been responsible for deep depressions rather dangerous to traffic near the post office and opposite Mr L. H. Bell’s shop. • There has been much comment on tli'e need for repairing the broken surface* and the businessmen’s association is now bringing the matter before the particular notice of the town board. ' The need for a systematic rubbish Collection in the business area also came before the association at the regular meeting. Mr R. Stewart favoured fixed weekly contributions from the businessmen of 1/- per week, but owing to the varying quantities of rubbish which woul<j have to be collected from different premises an objection was raised to a uniform charge, and it was decided to request the town board to have rubbish removed once weekly. Mr Lloyd Peace said the town boai d had been trying for years to get someone who would undertake this work, but without success.
Mr Vaughan: Thd time is coming when the town board wilt have its own truck, which, in addition to othei Work, can be used for rubbish collection. ?
