Flu Restricts Admissions To Auckland Hospital
[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Only cases of an acute and urgent type will bo admitted to the Auckland Hospital, for the reason that 62 members of the nursing staff are suffering from influenza.
This decision was made yesterday, and until there is an improvement in the position bookings for admission are being stood over, except where it is necessary that patients should receive immediate treatment.
With approximately one in seven of the 430 nurses off duty, the staffing of the hospital has been made extremely difficult. Cases have become more numerous daily over the past two weeks, until a peak was reached yesterday, but it is expected that there will be an improvement within the next few days.
