Secret Visit To London

(Received 11 a.m.) LONDON, April 26. The Hongkong correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says Marshal Chiang Kai-shek’s personal adviser, Mr W. H. Donald, is reported to have gone to London secretly by air to confer with the British Government. The Tokio “Asahi Shimbun” says the Japanese Foreign Minister, Mr Arita, will shortly request Britain and the United States to co-operate in Japan’s “fair and just policy” regarding the Shanghai International Settlement. Japan is immutably determined to maintain non-recognition of the existing arrangements between third Powers and Marshal Chiang Kai-shek regarding the Settlement.
