[Special to “Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. At the Westfield stock sale yesterday, the depressed rates which ruled for ox beef last week were not improved t upon. Cow and heifer beef was quoted j higher, and a brighter tone was evid-
ent in the quotation for fat pigs, and [keen buying forced values to rise in the sheep market. Lambs held to recent values under steady competition. There was no deI mand for veal, prices for which failed 1 to rise above the depressed rates ruling recently. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., reports as follows: — Sheep.—Extra heavy wethers, £1 8/; heavy prime wethers. £1 4/- to £1 5/-; medium, £1 2/- to £1 3/9; light, 19/6 to £1 1/6; smaller and unfinished, 15/to 19/-; heavy prime ewes, 17/ to 18/; medium, 15/3 to 16/9; light, 12/6 to 15/-; just killable, 8/3 to 12/-; inferiorily fatted. 5/- to 8/-. Lambs.—Heavy prime, £1 3/- to £1 4/6; medium, £1 to £1 2/9; light, 18/19/9; smaller, 15/- to 17/6; unfinished, best, 10/- to 14/6; others, 5/- to 9/-. Calves.—Runners, £2 10'- to £5 I'-; heavy vealers, £3 3 - to £4; medium. £2 10/- to £3; light, £1 18 '- to £2 8/-; smaller. £1 5/- to £1 16'-; j small, 16/- to £1 3/-; rough calves, 10'to 15/-; fresh-dropped, 3/- to 14/-.
