Boxing Contests

[Per Press Association. Copyright ,] WELLINGTON, This Day.

In a spirited professional boxing match before a well-filled house at the town hall [ast night, Don Johnson outpointed Vic Caltaux over 12 rounds. There was not a great deal between the pair, but Johnson was cleaner in his punching, and showed clever footwork and nimble ducking. Caltaux did most of the leading, but much of his work was misdirected.

At Gisborne last night, Joe Collins, of Palmerston North, 10.0, and Percy Kelly, Auckland, 9.11£, gave a hardworking exhibition over ten rounds in a welterweight contest, the bout ending in a draw. Collins was down twice in the seventh round and once in the eighth.
