N.Z. Housing Scheme Criticised
SYDNEY, April 21
A retired Capetown contractor, Mr E. J. Nason; who arrived today from a visit to New Zealand, spoke unfavourably of the New Zealand Government’s housing scheme. Ho said that the housing scheme could not be compared with similar work being carried out in South Africa, where costs were not nearly so high. Mr Nason added that three or fourroomed houses would cost in New Zealand from £BOO to £I2OO. but could be built in South Africa for about half the price. They would also be of brick, not wood.
