Sensational Drama Of Today’s Headlines

A new, colourful and romantic detective character is brought to Hie screen by Kent Taylor in “The Last Express,” Universal’s Crime Club production.

As Duncan Mac Lain, private sleuth who pursues beautiful blondes as fearlessly as he .tracks down killers, Taylor ferrets out a murderer from a collection of a dozen suspects, recovers £60,000 in ransom money, and places a gangster chief behind bars while solving one of the most puzzling cases of detective fiction.

An outstanding cast was assembled for the picture, headed by Taylor and Dorothea Kent, the latter as a blonde “mystery" woman. The supporting group includes Greta Granstedt, :Ddn Brodie, Paul Hurst, J. Farrell MacDonald, Shaw and Lee and Edward Raquello. •

New York City its giant subway system is the modern setting for the mystery, which maintains an air of eerie suspense until the final fadeOUt. A crossfire of threats and gunplay from two sides, the district attorney’s office and a gangster mob, catches the detective on the horns of a dilemma and keeps him there all through the story until the final solution. Otis Garrett directed from the screen play by Edmund L. Hartmann. Irving Starr was the producer.
