Rain Just Came to Kaikohe
Kaikohe shopkeepers who displayed umbrellas, raincoats and gumboots on Wednesday when rain commenced to fall were disappointed, for within a short time the sky was cleared, and rain was as far off as ever. Farmers thought the long-sought relief had come, and motorists expected a change to wet roads after dusty ones. For a Kaikohe cat, however, the rain threat was a godsend. It was being tormented by a pup, and, try as it might, could not make an escape. Perhaps the puppy was born during the dry spell and had no experience of rain. At any rate, with the coming of the first drops the puppy looked startled, dropped its tail and fled!
