AUCKLAND, This Day

Charged with deserting the German ship Dortmund at Auckland on April 13, Heinz Welling, .aged 18, and Willi Ostkamper, aged 20, told Mr OrrWalker, S.M., in the Police Court today, through an interpreter, that they missed their ship. They had no intention to desert. .. •

The Collector of Customs asked for a deportation order, stating that the ship was now out of New Zealand waters, but would be in Wellington on .May 8. Mr Walker made a deportation order, the two men to be kept in custody meanwhile. A charge of desertion was withdrawn.
