Out-Of-Luck Australian Paints For Royalty

(Received 12.30 p.m.) LONDON, pril 19

The King and Queen Mary have accepted four proofs of 'a portrait etching of the King by an Australian artist, Mr Henry Rayner, which Queen Mary recently noticed at an amateur art exhibition.

She requested 'a proof for herself and the King. Mr Rayner, who came in England in 1924, was almost bedridden for several years. In an interview, he said; “I struck a b’ad patch in 1933 and was reduced to begging in the streets and trying to sell my etchings. I sold 2000 of them last year for Gd each, although some brought between £2 and £3.”
