Parakao Hall Society Prospers
(From Our Own Correspondent) PARAKAO, This Day
With a profit on the year’s operations despite expenditure on improvements to the hall, the finacial position of the P.arakao Hall Society, is decidedly healthy. At the annual meeting of the society this week, Mr M. W. Wilson presided over a fair attendance. This Year’s Executive.
The new executive is: President. Mr M. W. Wilson; vice-president. Mr F. Platt; secretary, Mr G. Hunter; committee, Messrs A. Wadey. G. Neale, C. Davidson, H. Smith, N. Wilson, S. Ruddell.
The ladies’ committee was also present and made arrangements for running a 500 tournament and other entertainments, desides serving a delightful supper. Retiring Secretary Honoured.
On the retirement of Mr J. Tims from the secretaryship, Mr M. W. Wilson; the chairman, on behalf of members of the society, presented him with a handsome pipe and tobacco pouch as a small token of appreciation of his valued services during his long term of office. Other speakers also made eulogistic remarks in favour of the retiring secretary. Mr Tims suitably replied. RUGBY CLUB GAINS STRENGTH. A football meeting was held at Parakao on Tuesday night. Mr A. Wadey presided over an attendance of about 20. It was decided to enter a Manga- j kahia junior team in the Whangarei competitions. Prospects for a strong side are bright, and enthusiastic support is forthcoming from new directions. The officers elected were.—
