Portland Take Honours In B Grade Cricket (Championship Final

T EADING FOR MOST OF THE SEASON DESPITE UNAVOIDABLE DE- ’ FAtJLTS, HIGH SCHOOL LOST THE SENIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP ON SATURDAY, PORTLAND WINNING SENSATIONALLY.

* v :Hlgh School began the game with a point load, and had only to draw to secure the honours. 'School ibatted first and Loach and More opened confidently. Playing splendid cricket they took the score to 44 before they were separated. Harris’s bowling was deadly and a rot set ih.

Though 71 runs were on the board

for four wickets, the innings termin ated for 85.

Portland's innings- opened disastrously and C. Wallbank was caught behind with only three runs up. T. Wallbank and Warin. however, played confidently and 67 were on before Warin was beaten by Walker.

After that, the result was never in doubt, and despite brilliant fielding by the students the score was rapidly overtaken and Portland took the dual honour of winning the championship and bracketing the Christmas competition with Kamo.
