Mr. Nash Tightens Control Of Overseas Remittances

ISpecial to “Northern Advocate"! WELLINGTON, This Day.

Yesterday the limit of £lO a week on money orders issued by post offices in New-= Zealand for payment in Australia, as imposed last December,' was reduced to £5. * The Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, said last night that the reduction had been made because of the possibility of persons desiring to remit funds qverseas using the facilities of the post office instead of the trading banks. “£5 a Week More Than Sufficient”

The amount allowed, £5 a week, should be more than sufficient to cover sums required outside of ordinary commercial transactions.

A number of business men who regularly remit money -orders to Australia were surprised when they were informed of the reduced limit. They were compelled to revise their remittances, and some said that the change would cause them considerable inconvenience. The man who whispers down a well, About the goods he has to sell, Won’t reap the gleaming, golden dollars Like he who climbs a tree and hollers. The man who lets a cough alone To wear him down to skin and bone, Won't be in health so sound and sure. As he who takes Woods’ Peppermint Cure. 16.
